## Thesis

The lecture is built around a dangerous reversal. The visible target is Jews, but Jiang’s stated model is that empire needs visible middle managers and scapegoats while transnational capital keeps profit in the shadows. British sea power must prevent a Eurasian heartland from unifying; to do that it sponsors chaos, revolution, debt, resource colonies, and useful diasporic networks. Frankist materialism and British imperial materialism then converge into modernity: liberalism, secularism, individualism, Darwinism, Marxism, and Freudian psychology. The strongest countercurrent is Bakunin: the object is not the mirror of freedom; another free person is. Paradise is not public property or self-analysis. It is love among people who recognize each other.

## Core Reading

This is not a simple “Jewish conspiracy” lecture in its own terms. Its first move is to say that conspiracy thinking is too easy. The sharper claim is that empire manufactures a face for power. Transnational capital hides, profits, and governs through trade, finance, debt, intelligence, revolution, and philosophy; Jews become the imperial middle managers who can be used, blamed, expelled, protected, or sacrificed. The argument then follows that machine through the British Empire, Ottoman debt, Disraeli’s strange literary self-disclosure, Bolshevik asset-stripping, Marx’s material paradise, Bakunin’s relational freedom, and Freud’s reversal from believing trauma to explaining it away.

The caveat comes first because the material is combustible. The lecture says it is easy to see a Jewish conspiracy everywhere, then turns the frame: Jews are not the ultimate empire but a construct and tool of empire. They are the middle managers and scapegoats. If they were not available, Jiang says, another group would have served the same imperial function.

The hidden actor is transnational capital. It gets the profit, hides behind the scenes, and leaves Jews with the blame. That is the episode’s first inversion: do not confuse the visible managerial layer with the shadow structure that owns the trade routes, banks, debt, and policy machinery.

The British Empire works because it controls sea lanes. The nightmare is a Eurasian heartland power able to link Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa by land and rail. If that happens, the sea empire loses its toll booth. So British strategy becomes chaos: keep the French, Russians, Ottomans, Germans, and any future continental bloc fighting each other.

The operational repertoire is subterfuge: finance revolutionary movements, industrialize Japan as a Russian counterweight, build resource colonies, and steal fast from India, China, and Africa. For that work, Jiang says the Frankist networks were useful because they were diasporic, wealthy, crypto-Jewish, revolutionary, and animated by the idea that the world must be destroyed to be saved.

### Debt Becomes Rule, Utility Replaces Truth

The Ottoman case shows empire as finance before it is battlefield conquest. Britain and France help the Ottomans against Russia, but the help comes through loans. Interest overwhelms the system; foreign bankers establish tax administration; a third of revenue flows directly to creditors. Sovereignty is lost through accounting.

When the Sultan turns to Germany, the Donmeh or Sabbatean-Frankist layer becomes useful again: finance the Young Turks, push secularism, liberalism, and individualism, and turn modernity into a revolutionary solvent. The claim is not merely that Turkey changes regimes; it is that modernity travels as an imperial tool.

The Rothschild Waterloo story gives the same model in miniature. Faster information creates panic; panic crashes assets; the insider buys the wreckage. War becomes a market for those who know first and care least about national loyalty.

The philosophical sequence is just as important. Locke’s blank slate, Hume’s skepticism, Bentham’s utility, and Mill’s liberalism move the world away from God, truth, and first principles. If truth cannot be reached, utility becomes the substitute god. Policy becomes math for pleasure, and liberalism becomes the moral language of that calculation.

But that is the trick. Marx takes religious needs and routes them through matter. The object replaces God and community as the site where the self becomes real. Public property then becomes a material paradise, led by a vanguard elite. Jiang hears Jacob Frank in that structure: a new people leading everyone into paradise.

Bakunin is the rescue. He agrees with much of the socialist critique but rejects the vanguard because it will become a new capitalist class. A socialist who does not trust everyone’s capacity for freedom has only rebuilt empire with a different flag.

The crucial distinction is mirror versus mirror. Marx says the object reflects the self. Bakunin says the other free person reflects the self. Freedom is confirmed in the equally free consciousness of other people. Paradise comes through love, not objects, public property, socialism, or inward self-display.
