# Power As Alchemy

**Aliases:** alchemy of power, symbol becomes reality, political alchemy, money as alchemy.

> **Fast answer:** Power as alchemy is Jiang's phrase for the conversion by which perception, symbol, story, money, office, or ritual becomes real authority. Power works when the sign no longer merely points at reality but reorganizes the reality people obey.

## What Jiang Means

The alchemy frame explains why Jiang can discuss myth, money, Church, empire, and modern institutions together. The practical question is how a representation becomes binding: a title becomes command, paper becomes wealth, a story becomes legitimacy, a ritual becomes social order.

Money is the cleanest modern example. It can be nothing and everything because it stores trust, attention, future claims, and social coordination. But Jiang uses the same pattern for political myth and official history.
